Liar, Liar

Matthew 4:1-11
When Jesus encountered the devil in the wilderness, He was met with lie after lie. As we well know, that’s all the enemy does. He is a LIAR! But how should we respond? When Satan accuses you, what do you do? When he says hurtful things to you, what is your response? When he harasses, discourages, and plagues you with thoughts that are hurtful, what should your action be? We can learn from Christ’s response when he encountered the devil in the wilderness.
Every time the devil said something to Jesus, His response was, “It is written…”
3). And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
4). But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
5). Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
6). And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
7). Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
8). Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
9). And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
10). Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
11). Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
The best response to lies? TRUTH! This is why it is so important for us as Christians to hide the word in our heart. When the enemy comes against us, we can tell him what GOD SAYS! Whatever Satan says about you, remind him and remind yourself of what God says about you! The devil is a liar. God’s truth is the answer to his lies.
So don’t be defeated. Don’t be discouraged. God has called and equipped you to walk in victory. You have abundant life. You already have everything you need to live above what the devil tries to speak over you. Remind yourself today of what the word says. Let each verse bring to mind the truth of what God says about you. Be reminded of what God says about the devil. He’s a liar and he’s headed for a lake of fire!
